My educational background includes a B.A. (journalism) from Colorado State University, a M.Ed (professional leadership) from Regis University, and a culinary certification (baking/pastry) from the Art Institute of Phoenix. I began teaching in 2003 and have taught grades 6-12 and courses in language arts, reading, culinary arts, and journalism. My educational philosophy revolves around relationships, responsibility, and rigor; I believe that knowledge is the greatest tool for finding success in life. In my classroom, students will form an appreciation for writing, reading, poetry, and vocabulary, as well as learn to collaborate with others, advocate for their learning process, and reach goals far beyond what they could have imagined.
I grew up in Castle Rock, CO, but have also lived in Iowa, Arizona, Oregon, and Minnesota. Some of my favorite hobbies include reading, traveling, concert-going, mountain adventures, and yoga; my husband and I also love to try new restaurants, attend college football games, and hang with our 16-year-old cat, Edith.
I am so thrilled to return to WWA and look forward to working with the wonderful students and families that form this incredible school community!
