In the Fall of 2010, our teacher & co-worker, John Wright, was diagnosed with Leukemia. At that same time, our school also had two students, Andrew and Jonathan, that had been battling cancer. It left our school community feeling helpless and asking, “How can we all help?” and “What can we do?”

Although two of those amazing people lost their battles with cancer in 2011, we continue to come together to walk, to remember, to celebrate those who have won, or to just enjoy the company of Woodrow’s one-of-a-kind community in a fun-filled afternoon.

​

Through funds raised with the Wright Cause Walk, we support current Woodrow family and staff needs for financial help while battling cancer or terminal illness.

​

The question is, why wait for something to happen to help, when we can all come together and be prepared to help if something does in the future?

 

The Annual Wright Cause Walk is held each May here at Woodrow Wilson Academy. For over a decade, the funds raised from this walk have been used for supporting staff/students and their families battling cancer or terminal illness. We hope you will join us this year!

Rallying Behind James Riddle:
Enjoy Pizza for a Cause at Beau Jo’s

When a member of our school family faces a difficult journey, our community shows up with open hearts and active support. James Riddle, a courageous 5th-grade student, is currently in the middle of a brave fight against leukemia.

The Wright Cause is proud to announce our support and endorsement of the fundraiser for James Riddle. While this is an independent campaign, it deeply aligns with our mission to support members of our school family facing cancer.

​

To support James and his family during his treatment, local favorite Beau Jo's Arvada is hosting a two-day dining fundraiser where a portion of all sales will directly aid his fight.

 

Event Details

  • Dates: Friday, September 18 – Saturday, September 19, 2026

  • Location: Beau Jo's Arvada (7525 W. 53rd Ave. | 303-420-8376)

  • Donation Impact: Beau Jo's will donate 20% of qualifying pre-tax purchases directly to support James.

  • Eligible Purchases: Dine-in food orders, gift cards, and to-go meals.
     

How You Can Participate

  • Bring the Flyer: Make sure to present the fundraiser flyer (printed or shown on your phone) when paying so your purchase counts toward the donation.

  • Order Takeout or Buy Gift Cards: If you cannot sit down for a meal, purchasing a gift card or picking up a to-go order on September 18th or 19th fully qualifies for the 20% contribution.

  • Spread the Word: Share this campaign with friends, family, and local neighbors. The broader our reach, the greater the impact we can make for James.
     

Every meal ordered, gift card bought, and flyer shared helps lift a financial burden off the Riddle family so they can focus entirely on James’s health and healing. Let's fill Beau Jo's with warm support and show James that his school family stands firmly behind him!
